This Week

makes me tired just thinking about it! The bedroom is almost all the way painted, chores must be done, and Scotty's birthday/bday weekend is just on the horizon! I'm so excited and so exhausted already! :)

My Wellies Are Ready

I missed the rain. I readied myself for rain while doing errands today, but there wasn't a drop in sight. My wellies got some action, anyway!
It was a pretty bleak day, so I stuck to the tried and true black outfit.

Dear Clouds,
Please give us some of your lovely rain drops. Us small folk down here really miss them.
With Regards,
Victoria's Wellies
ps. If you decide to stay up in the blue sky, please let the sun out.

Back To It

Yeah, we're back to the normalality of life today. I made up the word normality because I like it.

Scotty's fever is gone. He's tired, but that's about it! Yay!!! He went back to work today and is even making dinner.

I went to work today, too! We had a full day of nursing home fun that included: Rummy, beading, one on one conversations, some Italian lessons from one of the residents, and a live drummer (who is also a resident) who gave a nice fun music concert!

Here's what I wore. I got lots of compliments, which was so sweet.

Ps this is the last phone outfit pic for a while because I finally charged my camera battery!!

I had a blast wearing this fun maxi skirt! It swishes when I walk.

Hope you all had a fabulous hump day ;)

This One Time...

I had to rush my husband to the emergency room.

Over the weekend, Scotty had a mild-high fever of about 102. Sunday it broke (yay), and we had a super fun day of relaxing with family. Monday morning, he woke up feeling horrible. His fever was back up, and he felt miserable. He decided to try working, anyway. By about 10:30am he was in so much pain and a fever of 103.9. I called his doctor who told me to get him to the hospital ASAP.

On the drive over, Scott was a bit hysterical. He felt horrible, didn't want to leave work, didn't know how expensive it would be (ended up being a whopping $0 because of his awesome insurance), and had no idea why he was so sick.

This seemed like my first wifely test. I had to get him there, advocate for him with the doctors, provide accurate history and medication, and just be there for him. As much as I felt prepared to do that, I was still scared for him and wanted support, too. I called Scotty's older brother who dropped his day to come over to the hospital. I'm guessing Jay is pretty used to cheering Scott up in the hospital after spending weeks in the hospital after Scott's stroke. It was such a relief to have someone else to update the rest of Scott's family throughout the day, and to help keep Scott's spirits up. I felt like I spent most of the day hunting poor nurses down to get him the right catheters, remind them "just one more time" about Scott's sulfa allergy, and track down stiff straight-caths. Did I mention that I had to flag nurses for straight caths for Scott all day?

Basically, the doctors are unsure of what happened/why he got so sick. They gave him IV antibiotics and sent out blood then sent him home in the late afternoon. I got him his Rx and set him up to rest in the livingroom for the rest of the night. Jay brought over the most delicious meatballs and pasta for dinner.

Today, he is a lot better. Still has a headache, but his fever is almost all the way down and his coloring is coming back!

This whole ordeal has just made me: thankful for my family and completely grateful for my wonderful life with my healthy husband. I could not imagine life without seeing him smile everyday.

Thanks for all thoughts and prayers!

Catch Up Post

This is a bit of a catch-up. I want to show my outfit and talk about my shopping outing with my mom from a couple of days ago. Whenever I think about spring, I think about shopping with my mom. I know it seems weird, but every spring, my mom and I go on shopping sprees. It started with Prom a couple of years ago, then last year it was wedding shopping, so when this spring rolled around it seemed naturally to start going shopping. On our recent trip this is what I wore (once again I am sorry about the horrible phone quality):

I ended up buying a super cute black maxi from Ross, some half off Chesepeak Bay Candles from Khols, a beautiful Citrine ring for my mom for Mother's day, and the cutest Carters Leggings for my SIL's niece! Here they are:

I had an amazing time with my mom, and will probably continue this tradition for a long time. I heard a saying "A mom is a friend you never outgrow." It is so true. My mom is my best friend and will be for life!

Today, Scotty was feeling SO MUCH BETTER, YAY! We went over to Jay's house to watch the Flyers kick ass and work on Scotty's website stuff. We ordered Chinese, and brought the kitties over to play all day. I'm actually writing my post from his house with Kelly grading papers and Jay working on computer stuff while Scott is grabbing food for dinner for us. We've just been chilling and enjoying family today. Here are some goofy pics:
This is what I wore...again horrible qulity. I just love the casual off the shoulder top with rolled up ripped jeans.

Scott and Jay chilling watching the TV with Cocoa cuddling up close to Scott. And Jay thought it would be funny to stack our cats. Weirdly, they didn't care and just let him!

Hope everyone else is enjoying their Sunday!

Today's BB Pictures

Scotty boy is very under the weather. He has a fever of 102 and is feeling horrible. We just spent the whole day recouping. Here's some of today according to my Blackberry:

(Pictures from Top) Scotty not feeling well and chilling in bed all morning, the free flowers I got from work that I arranged on our dresser, the kitties cuddling, and Scotty lined up Sweedish Fish up my arm. They were swimming upstream.

Hope you all had a good Saturday ;)

Ps, Naomi Chadwick, I love you!

Yellow{with a}Jacket

Sorry for horrible pictures, again! Scotty Banana was working and the camera was dying, so we have a nice mixture of hurried, timer-set, somewhat-moving/blurry pictures today. You'll still get the gist of it, though!

See what I mean when I say BLURRY!
Couldn't forget about the shoes! (But this was after camera died, so I had to use my phone!)

Dress: Target, tank: f21, Blazer: LoveCulture, Shoes: Target

I love being able to wear fun outfits like this to work! I can't wait to have a great time playing Bingo with the residents tonight!

Feeling Productive

This morning someone lit a fire under my butt! The moment I woke up, I started my day the productive way. By 11am I was so proud of all the things I accomplished. Yes, I will brag about it now. I:
-folded and put away two loads of laundry.
-washed alll of the dishes from dinner last night and breakfast this morning.
-picked up our bedroom.
-made the bed.
-tidied up the living room.
-ate breakfast.
-took out the trash and changed out the bags.
-took inventory of the kitchen and made a grocery list.
-drove to the mailbox to mail our last tax form.
-went grocery shopping.
-put away all of our groceries.

Oh, and I managed to under-spend on our groceries this week while still buying some fun extras.

I feel like I am on the top of the world! Next on my to-do list, do an outfit post, and enjoy the rest of my downtime before going to work this afternoon!

Practice

Practice Makes Perfect!! That's what everyone says, so I took their advice. I was practicing away with my little camera. I put myself in a very naturally well-light room and snapped away. I figured I would practice, and maybe get some fun shots to give Scotty. I am very pleased with my results, too! I practiced for probably an hour or two, and I can't show you any of the shots!! Not the full ones, at least (I did say they were for Scotty).

Here are a couple of pieces of the pictures I took:

They've been edited/tweaked a bit, too. I'm still playing with how to get great light and how to adjust everything to get a great picture, but I'm super pleased with what I came up with today!

Now, I should probably devote some practicing time to Italian, too.

What are some things you guys have been practicing?

Chilly April?

I'm laying in bed with a sleeping Scotty next to me, basically freezing my mint green little toes off. I have my sheet, comforter, and blanket over me, and my feet are seriously still ice cubes. One of my least favorite things is having cold, clammy feet. Grrrr. I'm going to have to put socks on!!! Why is today so chilly??!!

Today I am thankful for family. I drove my dad to the airport today. He is visiting his mom, and I wasn't working, so it made most sense for me to drive him. I have avoided driving to the airport or back solo for years. Scotty is the driver of the family. He is great with directions and doesn't get stressed very easily. I am the exact opposite. Well, today I conquered the airport drive! I'm so proud of myself *pats self on back*

I also got to hang out with my mom a little bit tonight. We had apps at Applebees, so it was a fun little outing with my momma.

Here's a lovely visual of bonding time for me and Nanners:

Just an Outfit

My hubby has a bad headache today, so I just snapped a couple of outfit pics on my phone today in our horrific painted mirror in the guest room.
(This outfit was for work at the nursing home! I love it there. We did exercise, history, lunch, wii bowling, and a craft. It was a fairly easy day, but I just love chatting up the residents!)

Shirt: thrifted, Belt: so old have no clue, Skirt: charlotte russe a long time ago, Shoes: Aldo

I know telling you where I got my clothes is basically pointless since they're all from forever ago, but at least I know how to incorporate old pieces into my wardrobe for years!

Toes

Happiness is having mint green finger and toe nails. They are so springy and delicious. Even sneaking quick glances at them make me happy throughout the day.

Also, this is the greatness of hubby working from home:

He makes funny faces when I creep on him!

That's all for today, but tomorrow I'm going in to work! Wish me luck on getting acclimated to the new job and environment!

RIBS

Errands, meat, and shoes consumed my day!
Scotty and I finally got out to get some flats for me to wear to work! It's really not great to be wearing heels with my job, because I work in a no-accident environment. If a senior was to fall in my presence while I was in heels, I might not be able to aid them properly. That being the case, I bought the cutest flats from Target for only $15!! They didn't have the nude ones in my size, but I might try to order them online since they are such a steal.

I decided on a little mixy-matchy pattern war today. I really enjoyed it. Again, I paired my awesome blazer with a patterned scarf! It kicks any outfit up a notch!

Scarf: Gap, Tshirt: Pacsun, Blazer: Love Couture, Jeans: so old, Shoes: NineWest

(I love that you can see Banana in the corner of the top pic)

After the shoes, we bought a meat pack from a local deli to last us a month! Scotty made DELICIOUS ribs for dinner. All in all, it was a successful day!

Happy early Easter (my favorite holiday)!!!

Excitingly Tired

Yesterday was my orientation, and today was my first day at my new job!!!!! It's so exciting. Scotty's got his new job working from home (YAYAYAYAY), and now I've got my new job at a nursing home. Seriously amazing the way some things work out. I'm absolutely exhausted. We're about to have company over, so here's what I wore:

(today I was lame and did them in the morning while I was literally walking out of the door)

Top: Express, Bottoms: Target, Shoes: Jessica Simpson, Bag: Aldo, Necklace: AE

Next time I'll try to have better pictures!!

Blue

Tonight I have the Sunday Night Blues. This weekend/week has just been very emotional and out of the ordinary. I am nervous and excited for Scotty for tomorrow, and I am just feeling run-down. I also miss my late cat, Midnight. Does anyone else have irrational blues sometimes?

I miss my parents. I haven't really spent much time with them this past week, which is kind of a bummer.

On a completely brighter side, here's a picture that makes me smile:
Scotty and I got goofy on photobooth a couple of years ago <3
