A very Happy Day

Today is the first day of Spring, but more importantly, it is Kelly's birthday! Scotty and I made her chocolate covered strawberries to celebrate. I love my sister in law and hope this birthday was awesome for her!
Look at how beautiful she is:
Her and Jay together :) such a cute couple
(she's all the way to the left. in Greece! Looking gorgeous and tan)
Goofing off at the beach house!

Anyway, Happy birthday, Kelly (again)!!!!

A Walk in the Park

*Today's post will be picture heavy.*

So many good things to report today! First, Scotty and I got some free quarts of paint at Ace Hardware. Last week and this week (I'm pretty sure two weeks ago, too but we didn't know about it) they were giving away one free quart of paint per person of their new line of paint. We hit up a couple Aces and got ourselves 6 quarts=enough to repaint our bedroom. Yes, we worked the system. Sue me.

After, we visited Scotty's Papa. Each time we get to spend some time with him is a blessing. We're not sure how long he has now, but even hooked up to his wires and tubes he's as sassy as ever! It was nice being able to sit on his patio with him and share some memories together.

Hubby and I had so much fun outside that we continued our day at the park. We just sat and ate some granola bars. We just enjoyed soaking in a little bit of sun while hanging out in the grass.

We had fun. Excuse my weird hair...it was windy. And I tried parting it differently today, which it obviously didn't like. I also tried rollers. I don't think they got along.
Anyway...look at my cute, squinty eyes husband! He's seriously adorable. Oh, and he has a horrible time opening his eyes in natural light. Pictures take FOREVER.

Here's a bonus picture of him with a grass stache. Quite debonaire.

These pictures look remarkably good, right? Yeah, it's because we're back to using our old camera, the Canon Powershot. It is kind of like a super star. It makes me want to actually take pictures. These are completely un-edited, too. I seriously love this camera and will never use my other one for pictures again. The other camera is strictly for video now.  (Dear Canon, I am sorry I ever doubted you. I will not cheat on you again. I will just upgrade to an EOS Rebel possibly.)BTW, to prove it's awesomeness, here's a picture in a mirror from across the room at full zoom with only one window open no flash and we were at different spots in the room!:

The rest of our day was peachy. We practiced our Italian, and Scotty did surprise kitten with Cocoa. Here is is...
Hope you have/had a great Saturday!

love/hate

I've come to a sad realization. One of my absolute favorite shows is completely depressing. It makes me so happy to watch, but overall it totally depresses me! Why do this to myself?! Yes, it is Grey's Anatomy. I adore my super-dramatic, very naughty, unrealistic show. The thing is, when I see these heart breaking patients who lose their ability to speak in routine brain surgery and give birth to a .8 oz baby I become terrified of these out-landish (yet totally in the realm of possibility) scenarios.

For my own health and peace of mind, I should stop watching my beloved show, but I really just can't bring myself to it. I'm not ready to give it up. Not yet.

Town Gown

Goodnight! After a perfect day, I am so happy to be home, in bed, and watching "The Proposal" on tv with my hubby! It was a long and lovely and oh so relaxing day! We slept in, enjoyed beautiful spring breezes coming through our balcony door and windows, had some much needed alone time, went to our cousin's house, hung out with family, relaxed in their hot tub, and had no agenda! God has blessed us so much, and today was one of those blessings!

Speaking of blessings, Scotty and I have started something awesome. Hubby and I started a little ritual. each night we are writing down two things that made the day great in a little journal. the thing is, we live such a blessed life (I mean anyone who gets to look at his attractive face everyday is blessed!), so this is a great thing we can do together to unwind for the day and remind each other how awesome we are! It also helps us not harp on the negatives.

Reading through our week of blessings so far ^^

Super comfy outfit today:
dress: tbags, shirt: thrifted, bag: street boutique, belt: ae, sunglasses: target
(these were totally taken off of my cell phone because my camera was dead)

I hope everyone else had an awesome day!

Thanks for reading!

Not Even Getting To Me

That's right! Daylight saving's time isn't even getting to me! Because this means it stays light later! Yay for no more hibernation!!
Let me just say, hubby isn't so keen on Daylight Saving's time right now. He is clinging to the sheets this morning (but I can't really blame him...they are Egyptian Cotton).

Yesterday was pretty fab. It started out a little drab. I HAD to clean the house a bit. It was getting ridiculous. Scotty had a mountain of dishes, and I had a pile of stink that had to be washed, dried, and folded, and we both had closets that were more like caves of clothes that had to be sorted and put away properly. And Scotty and I were in a tiff. I said "We have so much to do today!" meaning "We have so much to do today together" and Scotty took it as "We have so much to do today separately let's get started peace out" (so he could also go to the grocery store and get a free pint of paint at Ace Hardware store).

So I had my panties in a bunch, but we worked it out. And went grocery shopping together. And went to Ace Hardware together--and got TWO free pints of paint. TAKE THAT, MARRIED COUPE TIFF!

Afterwards, I impromptu-ly (I know that isn't a word) got together with my sister, Kelly, (who lives literally 3 minutes away walking) and we swapped clothes. It was a total win for me, and hopefully a win for her.
Getting to hang out with her is a total treat because her and Jay are super busy people, and then Emily joined, so it was a DOUBLE treat. Once Jay got home, Scotty came over, too. We all hung out relaxing and laughing together, which was just really nice.
The "party" lead back to our house (with wheelchair tag-team pushing up and down the grassy hill and all) where we finally ate delicious dinner made by the fabulous boys. AND we pulled out rock band, which is Scotty's absolute fave. We caused quite the ruckus--aka stunk at rockband but had a blast!

Long story short, yesterday rocked my socks off! (and why I may or may not be hung-over today)

Family rocks--at least mine does.

Have a cheery Daylight Saving's Time!

Thrifting!

After my morning spent pondering, Scotty and I went out. He had to get a certain color for one of his art pieces so he went to the art supply store, and right next door is Salvation Army. I tagged along to see if I could do any thrifting.

Here's the thing. Everytime I go shopping, I find way more stuff for Scotty. Today, though, I was able to get both of us button downs, and a sweater. The sweater we are sharing (I love the look of a bf cardi). Our button downs look very similar, but his is (drum roll please) J Crew. I ADORE J Crew, so when I found this relaxed oxford I made Scotty try it on.
Here it is! It's a bit wrinkled so I have to iron it. The photo isn't super detailed, but it's basically white and gray striped. It retails for $65 and I nabbed it for $4! WINNING!!!! haha

I will show my thrifts later on an outfit or something, but I will say I'm very satisfied. We stayed under $15!

Here's what I wore today (please excuse the no make-up, hair not done):

Jacket: H&M (the beloved army jacket I talked about previously), button down: New York & CO, Tshirt: f21, Jeans: super old, shoes: Aldo

I was so glad I was able to find a way to wear this button-down. I got it a while back, and bought it online (I know I know, Victoria, stop buying anything online) and it looked SO DIFFERENT online. I liked it a lot better online, actually. I was scared I would never wear it. Thankfully, though, paired with black and brown and army green, it is a lot less 'little girl' and much more wearable. I dig!!

And here's a random pic I snapped of the hubby!

Isn't he THE cutest?! i heart him

Pondering

This morning has been spent pondering. A lot went on yesterday, and I can't help but think about it.

Last night, at the end of the night, I had some friends over to play some games. It was all fun, and it was quite hilarious, but after our first game, my stomach started doing that thing. You know, the thing where it hurts like something's eating you from the inside. No matter how you sit or adjust your snug pants it kind of gnaws at you...yeah I've been pondering it. WHAT IS GNAWING AT ME FROM THE INSIDE?! It makes me pretty crabby and not as fun to be around =/

Another thing of ponder-worth proportion. I wish I lived in the south. As in, somewhere where winters are mild (like the one we had this winter). There really isn't too much holding hubby and I here. We rent, we're not really invested in our jobs, etc. Things in the south are just more our style, weather, and {depending where you are, price range}. The only thing really holding us back is I could never be far away from our {my} family. I like to see my rents about once a week, so I just can't picture not having that luxury. We have such a great support system here. I don't know how other people do it!

Yeah, we are pondering a lot right now!
